Counselling

Although counselling is a mandatory legal requirement for all couples wishing to take part in egg donation you will find it helps both of you deal with the various questions and concerns that arise - some of which you may not have considered before.

Our expert panel of counsellors can provide, if you require it, support throughout your entire egg donation process. They create a confidential and sensitive relationship so that you can discuss all the personal, emotional or social aspects.

Fertility treatment can sometimes lead to some stress and we strongly recommend that you take the opportunity to talk out your concerns with a professional. It is usually best for couples to attend all visits together. Sometimes very difficult decisions have to be made and difficult questions have to be resolved such as:

  • Should we discuss the EDE Programme with our family?
  • How do we really feel about assisted conception?
  • Could we cope with the stress of treatment?
  • How will we cope if it fails? n How can we come to terms with stopping treatment?
  • How do we feel about using a donor egg?
  • Will it feel like our child?
  • Would we tell the child?
  • How do we tell our child?

People feel a range of confusing emotions, including depression, anxiety, anger or hostility, guilt, grief, or loss. They may experience problems sleeping and eating as well as difficulties coping in social or work situations.

At times like this our counsellors can offer complete emotional and psychological support
